Next Steps for New Undergraduate Students

There are a number of tasks which we need you need to complete as soon as possible, all of which are listed below. Any delay in completing these could disrupt your first weeks at Brasenose, so it is important that you go through each step listed below. If you have any questions about any of the the things outlined below, please email us.

Please ensure you also read through the information on the Useful Information and Dates & Events pages.

1. College Contract and Freshers’ Dinner

Please download the College Contract, complete the sections highlighted in yellow on page 4, and save it. The entire document can then be submitted online via our submission portal. When submitting the College Contract, you will also be asked to provide dietary information to help with the planning of the Freshers’ Dinner (more information on the dinner can be found on the Dates & Events page).

2. University Card Form

Please print out and sign the University Card Form and attach a photograph (a formal passport photo is not needed – anything clearly showing your face is fine). You should then take a scan or photo of your completed form (as high quality as possible), and submit it online via our submission portal.

3. Medical Information

The College Doctors have written a letter giving information on how to register with them. Please complete this process as soon as possible, so that you can be registered before you come to Oxford, and will therefore be entitled to medical care from the moment you arrive.

The College Doctors have also provided a handout giving information on how to use their services. If you are unsure how the UK healthcare system works, then a useful guide is available on the website of the UK Council for International Student Affairs.

The University have also produced a letter giving advice on immunisations.

4. Students with Disabilities or Health Concerns

If you declared any form of disability or medical condition (including Specific Learning Differences such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, or ADHD) when you submitted your UCAS application then you will have received an email from the University’s Disability Advisory Service (DAS). It is very important that you reply to DAS quickly so that any adjustments you might need can be made and we can ensure the correct support is in place before you arrive. If you have not heard from DAS, or no longer have their email, then please email them directly.

If you did not declare anything on your UCAS application but would now like to make us aware of something then please email DAS immediately.

If you have a medical condition which might require adjustments for teaching or domestic arrangements then please contact DAS in the first instance.

5. Online IT Induction and Student Registration

Once you have returned your University Card Form to us (see point 2 above) your University IT account will be set up. You will be sent an email giving you your login details and asking you to enrol online for your course and an IT induction, and it is very important that you do so as quickly as possible. If you have not received this email by Monday 30th September please email us.

The College’s IT Office will be holding an online IT induction for new students on Thursday 19th September, to help you set up all the key IT systems and accounts you will need as a Brasenose student. You will receive an invitation to attend this session in early September, and it will also be recorded for anyone who isn’t able to attend on the day.
