Next Steps for New Undergraduate Students

There are a number of tasks which we need you need to complete as soon as possible, all of which are listed below. Any delay in completing these could disrupt your first weeks at Brasenose, so it is important that you go through each step listed below. If you have any questions about any of the the things outlined below, please email us.

Please ensure you also read through the information on the Useful Information and Dates & Events pages.

1. University Card Form

Please print out and sign the University Card Form and attach a passport photograph. You should then take a scan or photo of your completed form (as high quality as possible), and submit it online via our submission portal.

2. Medical Information

Update: Please ensure that you have your NHS number available to you, and if you are an international student please register to get an NHS number  as soon as possible. You will need this if you are required to use the use the University’s Early Alert Service.

The College Doctors have written a letter giving information on how to register with them. Please complete this process as soon as possible, so that you can be registered before you come to Oxford, and will therefore be entitled to medical care from the moment you arrive. This letter also contains some information from the College Nurse.

The University have also produced a letter about immunisations

If you are unsure how the UK healthcare system works, then a useful guide is available on the website of the UK Council for International Student Affairs.

3. Freshers Week Social Events

Alec Watson, Emily Duchenne, the JCR Entertainment (Entz) Reps and Pierce Jones, the JCR President will be organising a number of events during Freshers Week. Once details have been confirmed, taking into account the need for social distancing, this will be circulated to Freshers’.

4. Students with Disabilities or Health Concerns

If you declared any form of disability or medical condition (including dyslexia and dyspraxia) when you submitted your UCAS application then you will have received an email from the College’s Disability Advisor, Sara Scott. It is very important that you reply to Sara quickly so that any adjustments you might need can be made and we can ensure the correct support is in place before you arrive. If you have not heard from Sara, or no longer have her email, then please email her directly.

If you did not declare anything on your UCAS application but would now like to make us aware of something then please email Sara immediately.

If you have a medical condition which might require adjustments for teaching or domestic arrangements then please contact Sara in the first instance.

5. Online IT Induction and Student Registration

Once you have returned your University Contract to us (see point 2 above) your University IT account will be set up. You will be sent an email giving you your login details and asking you to enrol online for your course and an IT induction, and it is very important that you do so as quickly as possible. If you have not received this email by Monday 28th September please email us

Once you have activated your email account the College’s IT Office will contact you to invite you to one of their online IT inductions, which are taking place on Monday 7th, Monday 14th and Monday 21st September. This session will help you set up all the key IT systems and accounts you will need as a Brasenose student.
