Next Steps for New Postgraduate Students
Please note: the information on this page may be updated as the start of term approaches, so please ensure you check it regularly.
1. University Contract
If you have met all of your conditions, you should by now have received your University Contract (card form) from your Department. Please ensure that this is signed and returned promptly with the requested photo, to the address provided on the form. This contract will generate your University card and email account and so any delay in returning this can cause problems on arrival. If you have not yet received your University card form, please email us and also contact your Department.
2. College Contract and Freshers’ Dinner
Please download the Graduate College Contract, complete the section at the bottom of page 6 and save it. The entire document can then be submitted online via our submission portal. When you submit your College Contract, please also let us know if you will be attending the Freshers’ Dinner on Wednesday 9th October and provide your dietary information. Please complete this process by 16th September 2024.
3. Medical Information
The College Doctors have written a letter giving information on how to register with them. Please complete this process as soon as possible, so that you can be registered before you come to Oxford and become entitled to medical care from the moment you arrive.
The College Doctors have also provided a handout giving information on how to use their services. If you are unsure how the UK healthcare system works, then a useful guide is available on the website of the UK Council for International Student Affairs.
The University have also produced a letter about immunisations.
Please ensure that you have your NHS number available, and if you are an international student please register with the College Doctor to get an NHS number as soon as possible.
If you are already registered with a surgery in Oxford and would prefer to stay with your current surgery, please email us with the details.
4. Online IT Induction and Student Registration
This handy flowchart explains the process for registration and enrolment.
Once you have returned your University Contract (card form) to your Department, your University IT account will be set up. You will be sent an email giving you your login details to activate your accounts, and asking you to log in to Student Self-Service to register and check your details in preparation for enrolment (available from 1st September). Please complete this process via Student Self Service. It is very important that you do this as quickly as possible as you must have completed this part of online registration before we can give you your University card and enrol you. If you have not received this email by 16th September, please email us.
The College’s IT Office will hold an online IT induction for new students on Thursday 19th September, to help you set up all the key IT systems and accounts you will need as a Brasenose student. You will receive an invitation to attend this session in early September, and it will also be recorded for anyone who isn’t able to attend on the day.
5. Students with Disabilities or Health Concerns
If you have a disability or medical condition (including dyslexia and dyspraxia) you may wish to contact the University’s Disability Advisory Service (DAS). It is very important that you contact the DAS quickly if you require any adjustments or support so that the College can make suitable arrangements in preparation for your arrival.
